Banana Chocolate Cake


2 cups white sugar
1¾ cups plain flour
¾ cup cocoa powder
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1 cup warm water
½ cup milk
½ cup vegetable oil
1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract


Preheat oven to 350˚F (175˚C).

In a large bowl sift and mix together sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the eggs, bananas, water, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.

Add the wet ingredients gradually to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.

Pour the cake batter into a greased 9 inch (23cm) round cake pan.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until skewer comes out clean.  

Leave in pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack.

Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting or Chocolate Ganache Frosting.
